DoubleTree Hotel

About DoubleTree Hotel Project

PMB Construction served as the project manager for the $30 million renovation of the former Stambaugh Building in downtown Youngstown, Ohio. Construction started January 2017 with a grand opening May 2018.

The 12-floor hotel features 125 guest rooms, two restaurants, a coffee shop, a 24-hour lobby market, 24-hour fitness center, business center, and meeting spaces, including the top-floor Palladian Ballroom featuring views of the city from every side of the room.

Rooms range from 350 square feet for a standard room, ten (10) 600 square feet junior suite, eight (8) 650 square feet two-room king suites.

The Stambaugh Building was a 12-story, neoclassical revival building that opened in 1907.  From demolition of the former office building to preserving the historic features to a luxury hotel. It was filled with marble from the first floor to the top that was all restored, along with the terra cotta, the copper corners outside the building and the elevators.

The building’s historic features included a tremendous amount of terrazzo on every floor, brass and iron elements, Palladian windows on the eighth and 12th floors, crown molding and marble. The project’s biggest challenge was balancing between Hilton’s standards and the requirements established by the National Park Service for the historic preservation tax credits that the project received.
